CFV May Member of the Month: Melissa Galloway

How long have you been doing CrossFit? I will be celebrating 6 months doing CrossFit on May 20!!!

What is your favorite CrossFit workout and/or movement? I look forward to learning a new movement each day. Lifting days have become a favorite day to see just how much I have grown in my strength.

What do you love most about CrossFit Virilis and CrossFit, in general? I really enjoy all the people I have come to meet and how we all encourage each other with words, high fives, and rounds of applause for completing the WOD!!! Having a different workout each day keeps it exciting!

Name your top five favorite movies (and she wanted to add in shows, so, of course, we let her.)
1. Fixer Upper
2. Sing
3. Utopia
4. Dr. Poll
5. Trolls

If you could have lunch with anyone in time, dead or alive, who would it be and why? My grandmothers… it’s been a long time since they passed. I would like to share my life with them since they went to heaven.
If I could just capture a picture with my family with them. They never got to meet my family.

What is the Melissa lifestyle like outside of the gym? I am a daughter of God, a wife, and mother of four little ones. I have an 11-year-old boy, 9-year-old daughter, 5-year-old boy, and a 3-year-old boy, so I stay busy with kiddos!!! My husband and I have been married 11 years and together for 21 years! I am a review manager for an awesome company, ReviewPush, which allows me to work from home. I have been with the company four years now. I am blessed to work and still do the mommy things and be involved with my children’s schools. In my spare time, I am a active member with celebrate recovery for 16 months and enjoy taking classes to improve my well-being and enjoy reading self help books or anything inspiring.

What makes you the happiest? Being with my family and enjoying the life I have so graciously been given. I enjoy singing and praising during church or jamming in my car and dancing gets my soul going!!!

What’s your favorite restaurant? I enjoy Mexican food with chips and salsa and a good glass of iced tea!

What is your favorite quote to inspire, motivate, or make you think?
“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
“With God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
“Love wins.”

What’s your favorite sport & team? I enjoy watching my son play baseball these days. I was very active in baseball and then softball for years of my childhood till high school. I love the game!

Can you share about the impact that CFV has had on you both in and out of the gym? Oh wow! This is big for me. It’s hard to even put into words. CrossFit was on my goal list. I thought I could possibly be good at that, but my self-esteem and confidence would never let me believe I could actually do that stuff. I set a 6-month goal list and trying CrossFit was one of the things I wanted to accomplish. Then, God led me to CrossFiit Virilis. I was still hesitant to join, but then God used others to encourage me to join. After many weeks of debating, I did! I still remember the day I committed to Tanya, I put a screen shot on my phone that said, “Here goes nothing,” – could be the start of everything. After day two, I saw a verse that’s dear to my heart written on the whiteboard, and it all made perfect sense that I was right where God wanted me to be. I still believe that today. So grateful and thankful I put aside my fear of the unknown and embraced what was and continue to endure what is to come.

Anything else you’d like to add? Each person, whether I have met you or not, has been part of my journey with pictures on Facebook or watching you in action at the gym. You all have all given me the strength to know we all can do great things and nothing is impossible.
