FAQ

What is Crossfit?

CrossFit is an effective way to get fit. Anyone can do it. It is a fitness program that combines a wide variety of functional movements into a timed or scored workout. We do pull-ups, squats, push-ups, weightlifting, gymnastics, running, rowing, and a host of other movements. Always varied, always changing, always producing results. Kids, cops, firefighters, soccer moms, Navy SEALS, and grandmas all do CrossFit.

How can I learn more about getting started?

We want to get to know you and your goals, so that we can find what will work best to get you the results YOU want. You can take the first step by signing up for a No-Sweat Intro (hyperlink) where we will do those things, as well as answer any questions you have. Then, if you’re ready, we’ll get you started with the perfect program for you! We have lots of times available, but be sure to schedule, so we have a coach or team member available to have dedicated time available for you.

Do I need a contract?

Nope. We want you to come in and give it a try and see if it’s for you. Our memberships are all on a monthly basis.

Do I need to be in shape to start CrossFit?

No! This is one of the most common misconceptions about CrossFit. Yes, it has a reputation for being hard, but all of our workouts will be scaled and modified to accommodate whatever level of fitness you’re at right now. CrossFit Virilis is for both the person who has never worked out a day in their life AND for the super fit who want to take it up a notch. The tools for both sorts of people are built right into our methodology.

You don’t have to get in shape to get in shape. We work with all kinds of people at every level of fitness — even if you feel like that level of fitness is zero. We know that fitness saves lives, no matter who uses it, and we’re ready to help you save yours.

I’ve heard CrossFit is really hard and intense. Is this true?

One of the great things about CrossFit is that the training can be “scaled” to suit everyone, regardless of their skill or fitness level. Scaling means that the same workout can be adjusted for different individuals by keeping the same format but substituting different exercises, changing the intensity, reducing or increasing the volume (number of reps or rounds), or changing the amount of rest.

How long are the classes?

Our personal training sessions can be scheduled for either 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Group sessions are 60 minutes. Our RISE Boot Camp sessions are 45 minutes. No matter which you choose, you’re in for a great workout.

Do I have to work out in a group?

No, you don’t have to. We also have personal training options that may be the perfect fit for you!
