How long have you been CrossFitting?
About 6 months.
What is your favorite lift/movement/exercise?
Running
What is your favorite workout?
By far, my favorite workouts are the Hero WODs ~ remembering the heroes that paid the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation! The last one I recall doing (before passing out j/k) was "Ned" ~ 7 Rounds for time of 11 bodyweight back squats and 1,000 meter row.
How does CrossFit impact you on a daily basis?
After putting in a workout, you walk away feeling accomplished ready to take on the day.
How has CrossFit Virilis impacted you long-term?
It's has opened up my eyes how important flexibility is. Flexibility has been my arch nemesis since I joined. I did not realize how inflexible I was until I began some of the complex movements and during stretching. I gained much respect for the CrossFit athletes at Virilis and the pros after watching them perform complex movements with ease and I'd struggle due to poor range of motion.
What would you do today if you knew you could not fail? A Navy SEAL would not be a bad career but I would settle for beating Matt Fraser at the CrossFit Games.
If you could have any meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it include?
Beef! It's what's for dinner. Give me some good smoked brisket, roasted corn, some bacon wrapped jalapenos, and I'm happy. Pair it with a craft beer and some good company on the water with the sun shining and that's livin'. Everything always seems to taste better when you're surrounded by good people, weird.
Favorite spot to hang out in Cibolo (or surrounding area)?
Is this a trick question? Am I supposed to say CrossFit Virilis here?if I'm not working out, I enjoy being on the water so a pool, lake or river are always good.
Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
Gladiator!
If you could step in a teleport for a day and go to any place and time in history, where and when would you travel to?
In reference to the above movie tile above, Rome in 180 AD. Could you imagine the Coliseum during the Gladiator games in its prime?!
What's the best thing about your job?
Helping people and meeting someone new every day. There is always something exciting and never a boring day.
What are you most thankful for?
My wife, my kids, my family and friends. Without them, life is incomplete and everything else is just a bunch of material things.
If you knew someone who had reservations about trying CrossFit, what's the one thing you would say to encourage them?
Anyone can and should do it! I have worked out at CrossFit with athletes from 12-80 years of age and drew inspiration from each of them in one way or another. Watching anyone at the box making personal gains at any level is inspiring and humbling.
Anything else you'd love to add?
Thank you to the coaches and members for the guidance and support and encouragement. Being surrounded by people with similar goals/mindset is the way to get in shape.
