CrossFit Virilis, October 2025 Member of the Month: Daniel Duffield

OCTOBER MEMBER OF THE MONTH

We’re excited to spotlight Daniel Duffield as our October Member of the Month! Since joining in August 2024, Daniel has cut his blood pressure meds in half and built the drive to take charge of his health—he’s aiming to be off entirely by spring. He crushes workouts that challenge him, especially overhead squats and GHD sit-ups, and is already eyeing Nancy, Helen, and Eva once his pull-ups are locked in. For Daniel, CrossFit isn’t just about fitness—it’s about showing up for his family, setting an example for his kids, and keeping life full of laughter. With favorites like Jojo Rabbit and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, plus his advice to smile at every kid you see, Daniel brings humor, heart, and grit to every class. We’re so proud to have him in our community!

1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I've been doing CrossFit for about a year and some change. Started in August of '24.

2. What's your favorite workout?

I had to find a list for this, but Nancy looks like it would be fun. As do Helen/Eva once I get these pullups under control.

3. What's your favorite movement?

My favorite workout is probably overhead squats or the GHD situps. Both of them have a lot of engagement and I can feel it afterward.

4. Why do you do CrossFit?

I do CrossFit because I didn't like what I was seeing out of myself. I was taking high dose blood pressure medicine, gaining weight and generally not feeling like things were bound to go my way. Since then, I've halved my dosage and have the (internal) expectation of being off of it entirely by spring. I've still got a long way to go at other things, though, so we're still at the mines for that.

5. What meal could you eat every day for the rest of your life?         

Uh, Thanksgiving for sure. Death to turkeys.

6. What has CFV helped you do, achieve, overcome, etc?

As listed above, I take way less of my blood pressure meds now. I have the motivation to do more things myself like running and whatnot. I'm more aware of my body. I should start a beer belly OnlyFans and make everyone aware of my body.

7. If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?      

Greg Giraldo. Mostly because I'm not that deep, and I would probably just want to have a good dinner and laugh a lot.

8. Top three favorite movies.

In no particular order: a) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest b) Jojo Rabbit c) I always like to say that my favorite romantic comedy is The Silence of the Lambs.

9. What makes you the happiest?      

My family. My kids, stepkids, wife (who none of you know) are definitely my reason for doing anything. I have a lot of goals for them and places I need to help them be, and everything I do is all about trying to put a smile on them for a moment.

10. Anything else you want to add about CFV, CrossFit, or yourself?

Oh, no, not really. Try to smile at every kid you see folks, you don't know when the next time they might see one is.
