He’s built a lifestyle rooted in movement, better fuel, and connection. Whether he’s under a barbell, sharing a laugh between sets, or simply enjoying the rhythm of showing up after work, Ryo embodies what it means to train for life, not just for a moment. Get to know the person behind the lifts, the habits he’s built along the way, and why this community means so much to him, and him so much to us, in the full interview below.
1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Since September 2023.
2. What's your favorite workout?
I fully enjoy all workouts!
3. What's your favorite movement?
Deadlift and back squat are my favorite, but recently I like snatch and cleans.
4. Why do you do CrossFit?
I originally started CrossFit to get in better shape for my wedding, but I kept coming since the wedding! I continue to do CrossFit for overall health and strength.
5. What meal could you eat every day for the rest of your life?
Japanese breakfast (rice, miso soup, grilled salmon, and egg).
6. What has CFV helped you do, achieve, overcome, etc?
Definitely! CVF helped me build a healthier lifestyle. More active, less fast foods. A recent body scan showed I gained more muscle and lost a bit of body fat! Yay!
7. If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Mmmm, my cats? Just a kidding. My parents who live in Japan. I cannot have dinner with them often.

9. What makes you the happiest?
Seeing friends at the gym after work :).
