CrossFit Virilis, June 2025 Member of the Month: Kenny Medina

JUNE MEMBER OF THE MONTH

This June, we’re celebrating Kenny—a longtime CrossFit Virilis staple who’s been showing up and putting in the work for years. Known for his skills, quick wit, and love of a good Hero WOD, Kenny trains for longevity, health, and the joy of the journey (and maybe Eric’s 5am playlist). Whether he's hitting the gym or training in his garage, he brings heart, humor, and humility to everything he does. We’re proud to highlight Kenny as our Member of the Month!

1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?

8 Years.

2. What's your favorite workout?

Similarly to having a favorite child, it varies day to day. I do get excited about long-form Hero WODs like Glen that incorporate lifting, cardio, and gymnastics though.

3. What's your favorite movement?

Easily the "Rest"!

4. Why do you do CrossFit?

For longevity and health: If you don't use mobility and strength, you lose it. Also, told myself starting out I'd only do it until it's not fun anymore.

5. What meal could you eat every day for the rest of your life?         

Whatever my wife puts in front of me.

6. What has CFV helped you do, achieve, overcome, etc?

Maintain a balance. I'm a garage crossFitter on my "off" cycles; while it is cool being the strongest guy in my gym, it is also good to have community and accountability every now and then. Also, I show up for Eric's 5am playlist.

7. If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?      

Jesus of Nazareth, most impactful and influential man in my life.

8. Top three favorite movies.

O' Brother Where Art Thou, Zoolander, Lord of the Rings (first trilogy).

9. What makes you the happiest?      

Happy wife and kids. And sampling new craft beers at local breweries.

10. Anything else you want to add about CFV, CrossFit, or yourself?

Love God, lift heavy weights, and have fun 🤙.
