CrossFit Virilis, December 2025 Member of the Month: Nina Bookout

DECEMBER MEMBER OF THE MONTH

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Nina Bookout, a powerhouse mom who brings equal parts grit, humor, and heart to CrossFit Virilis. Since starting her journey in August 2024, Nina has transformed not only her strength but her confidence—trading dreaded lunges for newfound muscle and a love for tossing around a barbell. She’s the kind of athlete who can crush a workout, crack a joke, and wrangle her growing crew of kiddos without missing a beat. From power cleans to loaded baked potatoes to her dream dinner guest (Cleopatra, obviously), Nina is endlessly entertaining and genuinely inspiring. 1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I beleive August 2024.

2. What's your favorite workout?

Probably anything that uses a barbell, even though I’m not so good at it. (Side note from coaches: Yes you are)

3. What's your favorite movement?

Power Cleans.

4. Why do you do CrossFit?

To look good naked…..and be healthy and what not.

5. What meal could you eat every day for the rest of your life?         

Baked potato loaded with butter and brisket (or any meat really).

6. What has CFV helped you do, achieve, overcome, etc?

I have muscles I never had before. I used to dread lunges and now I’m ok with them because my legs have changed.

7. If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?      

Cleopatra. I have lots of questions like how did this get built?!

8. Top three favorite movies.

Idiocracy, Nightmare Before Christmas, A Goofy Movie

9. What makes you the happiest?      

My kids which is why I keep making more 😂.

10. Anything else you want to add about CFV, CrossFit, or yourself?

I tried CrossFit once before Virilis and thought it just wasn’t for me. Turns out I just needed to find a gym with phenomenal coaches. I once ate 24 Krispy Kreme donuts on a 2 hour flight.
