Tales from the CrossFit Gym: Commitment

I’ve often heard quotes from celebrities and other wealthy individuals that they would hope everyone has the chance to have fame and money and all the things that they desire in life, so they can see that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. We often focus our sights on the shiny objects in the room and rightfully so, they’re shiny.

However, to place our happiness solely in the moment we get to hold the shiny object is futile. It places the key to your happiness in a moment. Moments come and go. They are fleeting. Your life is composed of hundreds and thousands of moments, not a single one. Therefore, you cannot constantly be waiting for the day to run a sub-10 minute mile or squat your bodyweight. We are practicing commitment. We must constantly be chasing a chance to be better.

The chance at improving on your efforts is what must be your motivating factor.

The chance to work the basics of your goal, over and over and over. This must be your goal. This must be your passion. The days of tedious work that we all gloss over and take for granted so casually. These are the days that need to light the fire that burns inside you to achieve things. If you can allow this to motivate you, the road to reaching your goals will be much shorter.
