It’s that time of the year again, friends! As if many of you didn’t know, I am a huge fan of everything CrossFit. Yes, I am clearly biased. However, let me know the next time another person or organization revolutionizes an entire industry for the better. Ok, soapbox over. It’s about to be February and some of you know what that means. It’s time for the annual CrossFit Games Open.
For those of you that don’t know, the Open is the initial 3-week phase of the competition season of the CrossFit Games where one man and one woman will be crowned the Fittest on Earth (that phrase is trademarked) …including for legalities. 😉
Every year, beginning in mid-February, one workout is posted per week for three weeks. The workout is announced Thursday night and EVERYONE that does CrossFit IN THE WORLD has until the following Monday to do it and post their score online.
It is essentially your annual physical. This is the time to sign up and test your fitness with other CrossFitters in your age group from ALL OVER THE WORLD.
It’s also a time to push yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I know y’all are pushing yourselves every day you come in. I don’t think anyone is coming in one day and saying to themselves, “That was easy, I think I’ll do it again”. It’s just different during the Open. This is the time to get your first double under, first kipping pull-up or first ring muscle up. This is the time to see just how far the needle has moved regarding your fitness. Can I do something this year that I couldn’t last year?
Whether or not you sign up officially, we do want you to participate. We will be having a food truck come out every FRIDAY NIGHT. We want to encourage y’all to come out, do something challenging FOR YOURSELF, and have a good time. Workout heats will begin at 5:30 p.m. So sign up at www.crossfitgames.com, and come put all the hard work you’ve put in to the test, and let’s have a great time!
