1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I have survived working out at CFV for a little over one year.

2. What’s your favorite workout?
Short fast workouts that are over as quickly as possible. I prefer cardio, but learning to like weightlifting.

3. What’s your favorite movement?
Rowing and back extensions!

4. Why do you do CrossFit?
I joined CrossFit to stay active and healthy. I honestly had never touched a barbell before joining CrossFit Virilis, but I like cardio workouts and wanted to try something new after recovering from several joint injuries. CFV has forced me out of my comfort zone and pushed me to do things I have never done or thought I could do. CrossFit felt like the right decision because I need instruction and direction when working out. I keep coming to CFV, because I love the support and encouragement from the coaches, and I like the challenge of learning new movements.

5. What meal could you eat every day for the rest of your life?
I could eat bacon and eggs every day (I love breakfast for dinner).

6. What has CFV helped you do, achieve, and overcome?
Since joining CFV, I not only learned a few new acronyms, but I have also learned a lot about mobility and technique. CFV has helped improve the tightness and tension within my shoulders, neck, and upper back. CrossFit has helped me realize that I need to stretch and roll out daily to improve my technique and decrease pain. I can honestly say CrossFit provides measurable results not just on the scale. Since starting, I have seen an improvement in my lab work results, relating to my inflammatory markers. My rheumatologist was impressed and encouraged me to continue my CrossFit journey, because lab values don’t lie.

7. If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I would like to have dinner with Shonda Rhimes. I’m a fan of Grey’s Anatomy and after 18 seasons, I have several questions and a few complaints to share with her. I could probably talk for hours with her about the show.

8. Top three favorite movies.
Urban Cowboy, Christmas Vacation, and anything with Adam Sandler!

9. What makes you the happiest?
I am the happiest when I am with my whole family making memories and vacationing. I have become more thankful for the smaller, simpler things after sending my oldest son to college. My last child will be graduating high school in a couple of years, and I’m already experiencing empty nester anxiety.

10. Anything else you want to add about CFV, CrossFit, or yourself?
I’m very thankful for the coaches at CFV. I started at CrossFit Virilis just a few months after recovering from an injury, and I was a little scared I would injure myself again. However, I learned that the coaches at CFV are very knowledgeable, and now I feel completely safe with them. I feel like they really care about each member and do their best to help everyone achieve their individualized fitness goals. Working out at CFV also helps me deal with daily stress. During my workout, I don’t have time to think about anything that’s going on except how I’m going to get through the workout.
