CrossFit Virilis August 2024 Member of the Month: Rob Lajeunesse

Meet Rob, our Member of the Month! He’s been crushing CrossFit for just under two years, bringing over 15 years of calisthenics experience to the table. Rob thrives on workouts that mix rowing, wall ball shots, and kettlebell swings or carries, and he’s got a soft spot for the assault bike (yes, you read that right!). Introduced to CrossFit by Brooke, Rob appreciates it as a well-rounded fitness routine, far superior to just running, biking, and swimming. Thanks to CFV, he’s grown more confident in weight training, and he’s here to stay, drawn in by the supportive coaches, vibrant culture, and awesome community. And if you’re wondering, he could eat prime rib with loaded mashed potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts every day for the rest of his life. When he’s not at CFV, you might find him relishing perfect snow conditions on a ski trip or revisiting the cinematic brilliance of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Just under 2 years, but I’ve been doing primarily calisthenics for about 15 years now.
What’s your favorite workout?

Anything with rowing, wall ball shots, and kettle bell swings or carries.

What’s your favorite movement?
I’m a bit of an odd duck and enjoy the assault bike…
Why do you do CrossFit?
Brooke got me into CrossFit, and I’ve kept on with it as a better all around fitness measure than just running, biking and swimming all the time.
What meal could you eat every day for the rest of your life?
Prime rib with some loaded mash potatoes and roasted Brussel sprouts.
What has CFV helped you do, achieve?
I have absolutely gotten more comfortable with weight training thanks to the coaching pointers.
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?
It would definitely be to sit down for dinner with my grandparents again.
Top three favorite movies.

The cinematic masterpiece of all 3 Lord of the Rings movies, they’ve won 17 Oscars you know.

What makes you the happiest?
Getting perfect snow conditions while on ski trips with family and friends.
Anything else you want to add?

Brooke got me to start going to CrossFit, but the coaches, culture, and people are what keep me going which says a huge deal considering I normally enjoy alone, endurance cardio.
