What do you love most about CrossFit Virilis and CrossFit, in general?
Crossfit Virilis is a special place - I always feel welcomed and the camaraderie amongst the athletes and coaches is amazing. I've been to several CrossFit boxes in the past, and they're all great, but Virilis is home for me.
Name your top five favorite movies.
2001: A Space Odyssey
Star Wars (Not the new stuff)
If you could have lunch with anyone in time, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
The Buddha. From what I have researched about him, I think he would be a cool person to talk to about life, compassion toward all living beings without discrimination, and learning to accept life in this world. Plus, I think the Buddha would like tacos.
What is the Jose lifestyle like outside of the gym?
Writing poetry and short stories is something that I enjoy doing. I collect old books and love listening to music. I'm also a gamer and love to play games on Xbox and PC platforms. I like going to UFO Conferences. Yes, I believe in UFOs and little green men. I love The X Files ..oh and Bigfoot lives!
What makes you the happiest?
Hearing my wife and two daughters talking and laughing.

“You cannot be lonely if you like the person you're alone with.” -Dr. Wayne Dyer
What's your favorite sport & team?
Football; Dallas Cowboys!
Can you share about the impact that CFV has had on you both in and out of the gym?
To me, Crossfit is a process of transforming your mind and body. I still remember my first WOD at Virilis – I finished 1 set. I was out of breath, but mostly ashamed to have allowed myself to get in such bad shape. It was a wake-up call. I still have much more to learn, but the key is to not give up and be consistent. I'm not the same person I was two years ago – I'm better, stronger, faster. I am Virilis!
Anything else you'd like to add?
You guys have been my rock of fitness and well being. Even on days I when I'm not having a good WOD, you are always there to help me up and keep me going.
