CrossFit Virilis June Member of the Month: Isaiah Garfias

Isaiah Garfias is our CrossFit Virilis Member of the Month! He’s an awesome dad and husband, super fast on his feet, and as intelligent as they come. Remember the TV show JAG? Well, outside of the gym and family life, that’s Isaiah! He’s a bad-A judge advocate for the U.S. Army. Isaiah’s amazing, and we’re glad to give him props and kudos this month as a rock star member!

How long have you been CrossFitting?
Almost three and half years

What is your favorite movement?
The Clean

What is your favorite workout?
Bodyweight AMRAP

How does CrossFit impact you on a daily basis?
It is a precursor for setting up my whole day. That 15 to 30 minutes of intensity in the morning, puts me in focus and gets the day going.

How has CrossFit Virilis impacted you long-term (well, as long as you’ve been doing it)?
Before I joined Virilis, I never had an opportunity to work on movements or exercises that I was not good at. At Virilis it is not about getting us out, but about making sure we have improved in some way.

What would you do today if you knew you could not fail?
I would work each day on helping my fellow man, in some form or fashion.

If you could have any meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it include?
A breakfast burrito (eggs, ham, fried potatoes, cheddar cheese)

What is your favorite spot to hang out in Cibolo (or surrounding area)?
When not working or with my family I usually go to Cafezhino in Selma or once in a while I will go to Bar House in Schertz.

Choose a movie title for the story of your life.
I will have to get back to you on this one.

If you could step in a teleport for a day and go to any place and time in history, where and when would you travel to?
Probably the few days after my second son was born in August 2018.

What’s the best thing about your job?
The attorneys and paralegals that work for me are the absolute best. They make me a rock star.

What are you most thankful for?
My two sons.

If you knew someone who had reservations about trying CrossFit, what’s the one thing you would say to encourage them?
You are always only competing against yourself.
