CrossFit Virilis April Member of the Month: Shannon Potts!

Shannon Potts is our member of the month for April at CrossFit Virilis! This mama of five and wife of one can be likened to the Energizer Bunny. She keeps going, getting stronger, faster, healthier; she applies what she learns, and she keeps taking steps to live her best life every single day. Shannon has especially honed in on her food, after many a conversation and accountability from Team CFV, and she’s a great advocate for the power of food in her lifestyle. We love it!

How long have you been CrossFitting?
Almost six months.

Favorite movement?
Pistols, squats (front or back, but NOT overhead).

Favorite workout?
The Murph or any that have some running in them.

How does CrossFit impact you on a daily basis?
It reminds me I’m still alive, haha! I typically go to the 5am class so once I’m done, I feel accomplished and awake and ready to go.

How has CrossFit Virilis impacted you long-term?
Majorly!! I thought I was in fairly decent shape before I got into CrossFit, but I’ve had some great gains since October. It’s been humbling, frustrating, and so rewarding. It impacts every area of my life really as I learn I’m stronger than I think I am.

What would you do today if you knew you could not fail?
I’d have a huge home/property for women and children who have come from hard places and need to get on their feet. I’d work on building them back into whole people and teach them how to find resources and build a new support system.

…or complete an Ironman …or compete in The CrossFit Games as one of the elite athletes.

If you could have any meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it include?
I like too many things…ha! Maybe steak, chips and guac, and fro-yo or cake for dessert!

Favorite spot to hang out in Cibolo (or surrounding area)?
Mi casa, Emily’s Coffee Shop, or CFV, of course!

Choose a movie title for the story of your life.

If you could step in a teleport for a day and go to any place and time in history, where and when would you travel to?
I would choose Jerusalem during any of the years Jesus was ministering and performing miracles.

What’s the best thing about your job?
EVERY day is an ADVENTURE parenting five kiddos and keeping them all alive, haha!

What are you most thankful for?
My salvation, and then my husband and kids.

If you knew someone who had reservations about trying CrossFit, what’s the one thing you would say to encourage them?
TRY IT!!!! What do you have to lose?! Every single movement can be scaled to your ability. At CFV, EVERYONE is so supportive and encouraging.
